Hastings County properties are located in Bancroft, Belleville, Coe Hill, Deseronto, Madoc, Marmora, Stirling, Quinte West (Trenton and Frankford Wards), and Tweed.
The Hastings Local Housing Corporation (HLHC) directly owns and operates 1473 social housing units. The Housing Services division of the Community and Human Services
Department manages these units and administers funding for over 400 rent supplement and allowance programs that support low-income households in the community.
In addition, Hastings County administers funding to and supports 15 non-profit/cooperative housing providers, which represent 854 housing units in Hastings County.
Housing Services administers the Social Housing Registry. This list provides one centralized waiting list for social housing in Hastings County.

The length of your wait depends on the number of bedrooms required, location preference
and vacancy turnover rate. This means Housing Services cannot tell you where you are on
the wait list, nor can we predict how long you will have to wait.
Rent is approximately 30% of your total gross household income. Persons receiving a fixed
income such as Ontario Works or Ontario Disability Support Program pay rates that are set
by the Province of Ontario.
The Canada-Ontario Housing Benefit (COHB) is a monthly housing allowance provided to help with housing costs for eligible households living in the community in Hastings County and the cities of Belleville and Quinte West. The amount of monthly allowance provided varies based on the household’s net income as determined by current income tax information.
Service managers identify households that may qualify and help submit the application to the Ministry of Finance. Participants can contact the Ministry of Municipal Affairs & Housing for program questions and to report a change to their situation.

Applicants must complete an application for Rent-Geared-to-Income (RGI) housing in Hastings County to be eligible to apply for COHB. Applicants must agree to be removed from the Hastings County Housing waiting list if approved for this program.
